Resource Guide
What is running in your house, and why.
A plain-language guide to the equipment we use and how we monitor drying every day.
The equipment
Air movers
Blow air across wet surfaces so water evaporates faster.
Dehumidifiers
Pull that evaporated water out of the air so it does not settle back into materials.
Wall cavity drying systems
Push dry air into walls through small holes, so drywall can stay.
Hardwood floor drying systems
Mats or panels that draw moisture up and out of wood floors.
Air scrubbers
HEPA filtration to capture dust, spores, and odours.
Extraction units
Remove standing water from carpet and hard floors.
Thermal imaging cameras
Show where water has travelled behind surfaces.
Moisture meters
Measure how wet each material is.
Thermo-hygrometers
Measure air temperature and humidity.
Why we monitor every day
Drying is not set it and forget it. As materials dry, conditions change. On each visit we:
- Take moisture readings at the same marked points
- Record temperature and humidity in affected rooms, unaffected rooms, and outside
- Calculate how much water the dehumidifiers are removing
- Move, add, or remove equipment based on the numbers
Drying logs
Every reading goes into a drying log with photos. It shows your insurance company that drying was done correctly, justifies every day of equipment on the bill, and proves your home was dry before repairs started.
Living with the equipment
- Keep it running, even overnight. Turning it off sets drying back.
- Keep windows and exterior doors closed unless we say otherwise.
- Do not move equipment. If something is in the way, call us.
- Keep kids and pets away from cords.
